Some Pics from the Trip

Here are some photos from Dee's trip. They were taken by one of her fellow riders, a gentleman named Herb Lee. Dee has mailed me a memory chip from her camera so I will be able to post them once it arrives. I haven't asked Herb's permission to use these pics so I'm hoping he won't mind. They convey a neat sense of the scenery they are biking through and I thought you'd enjoy supplementing your mental pictures with some actual photos. I believe Dee and the group have made it into the state of Texas today. So three states down and five more to go although crossing Texas represents almost a third of the entire trip. I'm hoping Dee will have another post on the blog soon. Take care, Rob.

HI Dee, All the girls at Curves send love and good wishes! They love your postcards and I got some photos up so they can see how its going! Hardly 5 minutes goes by without someone asking about how your doing! They want you to be careful, eat all the things you never let them talk about at Curves and enjoy the ride!
Love from all of the gals at Curves!!!
and me too! :)

Hi Dee,

On Monday, I flew from San Diego to Phoenix, probably along the same route you took several weeks ago. There was nothing but desert the entire time and I thought about you riding your bike all that way. It gave me a real understanding of what it is you are doing. Of course, that is ancient history to you now that you have crossed the mountains of New Mexico. I am glad that you can keep smiling (or is that just for the camera) after all of that. It seems that things will flatten out a bit in Texas. I hope it won't be too boring now that you are an accomplished climber.

Keep up the great work!

Beate

Great photos -- Thanks Rob (and Herb).

Dee looks terrific. That woman does know how to find the sun. . . and hot tubs!

Hope you all are well.

Love the pictures but that road looks so steep - even in pictures! But then you know me - if its not flat and rails to trails - forget it. Enjoy Texas.

Thanks for the pics Rob...it's great to see the group and the roads our girl is riding. Looking on the blog site and following their progress is part of our daily routine now. More and more I find myself envisioning how the ride is going. Now we really have a picture to think about.

You look great Dee. Smiling as usual.

Great big hug, Shar

Dee, I knew you would do fine, but I didn't know how difficult it would be. My daughter Julie, rode the Continental Divide Trail several years ago by herself. So,Rob I know what it's like to worry about a loved one. She started on the border with Canada but quit after taking a break to vist us in Colorado. I've just finished reading the blogs and comments and all I can is you are an inspiration Dee and what a fan club! We've just gotten home, but I'm looking forward to following your progress. Many years ago, I drove 18 hours from Dallas to Flagstaff with the girls. I remember the beautiful canyons, but I can't imagine riding a bike across that distance. Your blogs full of funny stories, positive attitude, and courage are a joy to read. have fun! Jean

Hi Dee,
Well I just THOUGHT you were awesome, now I KNOW!! Those pics are great. See..I wouldn't even want to drive a car through there by myself. Those bikes loaded with all that stuff..and the winding uphill..and the long roads with nothing around. You guys are amazing. God bless all of you, stay safe.
Love you,
Linda T

PS Thanks for pics Rob, really helps!
